Privacy, in
plain language.
MailRail is a macOS email client made by WELLAND COLLECTIVE LLC. It connects directly from your Mac to the email providers you choose.
Information MailRail handles
The data needed to show and manage your mail
MailRail handles account identity information, message headers and bodies, mailbox folders or labels, and attachments supplied by your email provider. This information is used on your Mac to display and manage your mail and to send messages you create. Connected-account metadata and interface preferences are stored on your Mac. OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored in macOS Keychain. MailRail does not keep a durable local database of message bodies or attachments. Files shared from Finder are staged temporarily in the app’s private App Group container until opened in a new message or the account is removed.
Google API data and Limited Use
Used only for the features you request
MailRail uses information received from Google APIs only to provide the email features visible in MailRail. WELLAND COLLECTIVE LLC does not transfer Google user data to advertising platforms or data brokers, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models. MailRail’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Network connections
Direct provider access, with controls for remote content
MailRail connects to Google APIs over TLS for authorization and Gmail operations. If automatic remote-image loading is enabled, opening a message can contact image hosts selected by the sender. Those hosts may receive ordinary web-request information, including your IP address and the fact that an image was requested. Automatic remote-image loading can be disabled in MailRail Settings. If you choose Unsubscribe and Delete, MailRail may contact a sender’s standards-based HTTPS unsubscribe endpoint or send the sender’s unsubscribe email from your connected account. The conversation moves to Google Trash only after that request succeeds.
Analytics and tracking
No advertising or behavioral tracking
MailRail does not include advertising, behavioral tracking, or product analytics. WELLAND COLLECTIVE LLC does not collect message contents, subjects, recipients, attachments, access tokens, or refresh tokens through the app. Apple or macOS may provide diagnostic information if you separately choose to share diagnostics with developers through Apple’s services.
Removing an account
Authorization and local account data are removed together
Removing an account in MailRail asks Google to revoke MailRail’s authorization, deletes that account’s credential from Keychain, removes its saved account metadata, and clears staged Finder shares. You can also revoke access from your Google Account security settings. Mailbox content remains subject to your provider’s retention settings and policies.
