Simple Video Convert support

How can we help?

Start with these common questions, or send us the details below.

Which preset should I choose?

Choose Everyday for widely compatible H.264 MP4. Smaller File uses H.265 / HEVC and needs a compatible player. For Editing creates ProRes 422 MOV files; these can be much larger. Advanced settings let you adjust codec, quality, size, and frame rate.

Where are my converted videos?

By default, exports save beside each source video. The first time you use a source folder, macOS may ask you to authorize it. Approve the exact folder shown in the prompt. You can also choose a different destination under Save To. Use the completed file’s Finder action to locate it.

Will converting change my original?

No. The app creates a new file with a unique name. Removing a clip from the queue does not delete the source. Cancelling removes the incomplete conversion and keeps completed exports.

Why is my export larger than the original?

File size depends on codec, quality, dimensions, frame rate, and the original’s compression. ProRes is designed for editing and produces large files. Try Smaller File, a lower quality setting, or a smaller output size. No setting guarantees that every source becomes smaller.

Why is preview playback choppy?

High-resolution video and other work on your Mac can affect playback. Pause other demanding tasks and compare the source in QuickTime Player. Preview runs at the source frame rate; export resolution and frame-rate settings apply when converting. If the finished export also stutters or clicks, contact support with the source’s format and your settings.

Why can’t this file convert?

The source must contain video that macOS can decode and must not be protected. Check that the file opens in QuickTime Player, that the destination is writable, and that there is enough free space. Retry the failed item after resolving the issue. Include the exact error when asking for help.

What happens to HDR, audio, and subtitles?

Exports use SDR color. The first audio track is mixed to stereo or removed. Depending on the container and codec, audio can use AAC, Apple Lossless, or PCM. Subtitles, chapters, and additional audio tracks are not copied.

How do I request a refund?

Apple handles App Store purchases and refund requests. Eligibility is determined by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase.

What to include in a support request

Include the app version and build from About Simple Video Convert, your macOS version and Mac model, source codec and dimensions if known, selected preset or settings, steps to reproduce, and the exact error. Do not send private videos, passwords, payment information, or confidential file paths.
